Scott Durchslag
Chief Operating Officer
As COO of Skype, Scott is responsible for leading Skype’s operations while maintaining rapid growth. Scott is responsible for Design, Products, Marketing, Payments and Customer Care. He oversees Skype’s Consumer, Business, and Mobile Business Units as well as its Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions.
Scott has 20 years of experience from Fortune 100 technology corporations, start-ups, and professional services. Prior to joining Skype in 2008, Scott was at Motorola where he spent 5 years on the top management team of the $25B Mobile Devices Business. Most recently, he was Corporate Vice President of Global Product & Experience Invention. Previously, Scott was General Manager of South Asia where he built the region with the highest margins; and Chief Strategy Officer of the Personal Communications Sector where he architected the turnaround strategy that doubled market share and revenues between 2002 and 2007.
Prior to Motorola, Scott was involved in Grand Central, a Silicon Valley enterprise software startup, and was one of the early thought leaders on web services at The Chasm Group. Scott was a partner at McKinsey & Company where he served technology clients in their New York and Greater China offices. Scott graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Chicago and received his Master of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.
Scott enjoys sailing, mountaineering and building amateur radio transceivers. He is also an avid collector of wine and Chinese antiques. He adores spending time with his wife and their two children.
