Laura Shesgreen
Chief financial officer
At Skype Laura is responsible for leading the company’s financing, accounting and business intelligence functions. She’s based at the Skype HQ in Luxembourg and joined the company in February 2007.
Before joining Skype, Laura was CFO at NTERA, an Irish/US company producing chemical compounds used in the development of a new type of electronic information display. She’s been CFO at a number of international technology companies including PointCast and Evite.
Laura, originally from Dublin, is a fellow Chartered Accountant with a Bachelor of Sciences degree, majoring in Computer Science from University College Dublin. She began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers before moving to Silicon Valley in the early ‘90s. There she had the fantastic chance of witnessing, first-hand, the formation and growth of many of today’s leading web companies.
When she isn’t busy working, Laura loves entertaining and cooking. She is also a passionate skier.
Laura joined Skype because she believes that in a fast-paced, complex world, communication has a fundamental impact on achieving the right balance in life. Being able to connect with your friends, family and business colleagues anywhere in the world, for free or very little are an important part of that balance and one of many reasons which drew Laura to Skype.
