Skype to make internet communications on Toshiba notebooks even easier

June 26, 2007

San Jose, Calif., June 26, 2007 – Skype, the leading Internet communications company, today announced that Toshiba’s Digital Products Division will market the Skype™ Internet communication software on the company’s notebook computers, including the Satellite®, Tecra®, Portégé® and Qosmio® product lines. These new Toshiba notebooks featuring Skype will be available starting June 26, 2007 through both retail and online channels in the U.S., including Toshiba’s online store (www.toshibadirect.com).

The addition of Skype on select Toshiba notebook computers with built-in webcams and microphones creates an all-in-one internet communications solution for customers. Initially, Toshiba notebooks featuring webcams will include select configurations of the Satellite A215, Satellite X205, Tecra M8 and Qosmio F45 series. Customers will be able to see the branded offering with a Skype logo found adjacent to the units’ built-in webcam. In addition, customers will be able to access a Skype icon available on the desktop to quickly and easily download the latest Skype client software from a co-branded Skype and Toshiba landing page.

Jeff Barney, vice president of marketing, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. said, “Toshiba is dedicated to offering innovative notebook computers which provide users with the right balance of functionality and performance to enhance its customers overall mobile computing experience. Toshiba is confident users will appreciate the ability to connect with families, friends and colleagues across the world via Skype’s unique Internet communication tool.”

This marketing agreement with one of the nation’s leading notebook computer vendors, further builds on Skype’s momentum and reach to U.S. consumers. Last month, Skype announced plans to sell Skype Certified devices and accessories and pre-paid cards for Skype in 1,800 Wal-Mart stores throughout the country.

“Skype is always looking for meaningful ways to extend its reach in the marketplace and we believe this relationship will make it easier for the millions of Toshiba notebook users in the U.S. to experience the benefits of Skype Internet calling,” said Don Albert, vice president and general manager of Skype North America. “Teaming up with Toshiba will directly present Skype’s offerings to more potential users and will provide an ideal communications PC solution for them to stay in touch with their friends, family and business colleagues from home, in the office or on the go.”

Skype’s free software makes it possible for anyone with an internet connection to take advantage of its rich features and make free, high quality voice and video calls, to send instant messages or share files over the internet and to conduct conference calls (up to 10 people) and public chats (up to 150 people). Skype also offers low-cost products which include an annual subscription unlimited calling plan within the U.S. and Canada for $29.95, international calling to landlines and cell phones for pennies a minute, call-forwarding, Skype Voicemail and more.

Make international calls from your mobile at local rates with Skype to Go

June 8, 2007

LUXEMBOURG, June 8th, 2007 – Skype today announced a new way to call anyone in the world with Skype To Go™. As part of the global roll-out of Skype Pro™, you can talk to your best friend abroad from your mobile phone for as long as you want without it costing an arm and a leg.

Using Skype To Go is easy. Start by downloading Skype onto your computer. Sign up to Skype Pro for 2€ (2.30€ VAT incl.) per month and, as a Skype Pro customer, you will receive a Skype To Go number at no additional cost. To activate your Skype To Go number, choose the friend or family member you want to call who lives abroad. Then simply enter their international number and in return, Skype To Go will give you a local number to use instead.

With your Skype To Go number, you can call your friend from any phone, anytime you want. You can also store your Skype To Go number on your mobile phone and talk to that special friend no matter where you happen to be.

Having a Skype To Go number makes international calling from a mobile cheap. For instance, calling your friend in Australia now costs the same as calling your friend across the street plus the SkypeOut™ rate for Australia, which for landlines is as little as 1.7 Euro cents per minute.

“Millions of Skypers around the world already make cheap international calls from their computers. With Skype To Go, you don’t have to think twice about the cost of making an international call from your mobile phone. If you have a friend living abroad, you can now talk to him or her anytime and anywhere you want.” says Stefan Oberg, VP & GM Telecoms at Skype.

Skype Pro* was originally launched at the beginning of this year and is now available world-wide. Skype Pro is a fixed fee product priced at 2€ (2.30€ VAT incl.) per month and includes a range of features that varies depending on the country, for instance, zero per minute calls to local and national landlines, free voicemail and a range of discounts on Skype products and services. See Skype.com for details of which features are available in your package.

Skype’s popular features such as video calls from one Skyper to another, sending instant messages, transferring files, conference calls for up to 10 participants or public chats remain free to all Skypers across the world. You can also use Skype to make free calls from one Skype account to another.

As the world’s largest internet communications community, Skype is committed to giving people the ability to set their conversations free at home, at work and on the move. It is focused on further developing its ecosystem of more than 50 hardware partners and more than 190 Skype Certified™ devices to broaden the appeal of Skype to a wider base of users who want to use Skype away from the PC, no matter where they happen to be.
