Skype Introduces New Toolbars To Make Internet Calling Even More Convenient

July 27, 2006

New Web, Email and Desktop Toolbars Integrate Skype into New Computer Applications, Enhancing Productivity and Adding Convenience

LUXEMBOURG, JULY 27, 2006 – Skype, the global Internet communications company, today introduced three new toolbars for Web, email, and desktop applications, designed to help make Internet calling even more convenient for both consumers and businesses. The new Skype™ toolbars let people easily initiate voice and video calls, and instant messages directly from popular computer applications such as Microsoft Outlook and Internet Explorer.

A toolbar is a row of onscreen buttons or icons that, when clicked, activate key functions of the program. Skype is introducing three new toolbars that enable the seamless integration of Skype into desktop applications – Skype Toolbar for MS Office, Skype Toolbar for Outlook Express and Skype Toolbar for Thunderbird. Skype also announced upgrades to two existing toolbars for popular Web browsers – Skype Toolbar for Internet Explorer, Skype Toolbar for Firefox– as well as an upgrade to the Skype Toolbar for Outlook.

After downloading the free toolbar software, a Skype user can call any phone number contained in a Microsoft Office document, email or Web page with one click. Each of the Skype toolbars will recognize a phone number and enable a user to initiate calls, send instant messages and transfer files. All Skype toolbars are free and can be downloaded from skype.com.

“Extending Skype functionality into popular computer applications brings simple communication and collaboration to our customers,” said Peter Kalmström Toolbars Product Manager for Skype. “With our new toolbars, a Skype user can instantly connect with the desired party with just one click, making Internet calling extremely convenient.”

In a business environment, Skype toolbars can be used to streamline the editing or approval process. If a user receives an email about a collaborative project, that user can see the online status of their colleagues and initiate a conference call or multichat with them instead of continuing the email thread. In a consumer environment, a Skype user, surfing the Web in search of a place to eat, can click on the highlighted restaurant phone number and talk to the restaurant staff directly to make sure that a table is available.

Skype toolbars are backwards compatible, supporting all versions of Microsoft Office through Office 2000 (Outlook/Office 2000, XP and 2003), Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 (beta), as well as Internet Explorer 5.5, 6.0 and 7.0 (beta).

Skype Web, email and Microsoft Office toolbars are all currently available online at Skype.com. Internet Explorer and Firefox toolbars are available at Skype.com/download/skypewebtoolbar/. Skype email toolbars can be downloaded at Skype.com/download/skypeemailtoolbar/. Skype Microsoft Office Toolbars can be found at Skype.com/download/skypeofficetoolbar/.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--July 10, 2006--Skype®, the global Internet communications company, today announced that U.S. and Canadian-based Skype users can make free calls to traditional landlines and mobile phones in the United Kingdom, Mexico and Japan during three 'Skype Days of Summer' weekends, starting Saturday, July 15th. The three countries represent some of the most frequently called countries by Skype users and are among the leading destinations for all international calling originating from the United States and Canada.

Free SkypeOut(TM) calling to the United Kingdom, Mexico and Japan is available weekends July 15-16, July 22-23 and July 29-30, respectively. The free international SkypeOut calling offer to each country runs 48 hours from 12:01 a.m. EDT Saturdays through Sundays at midnight EDT, when international calling is at a peak.

According to a recent company-issued survey of its users, 70% of Skype users say the most important reasons they use Skype is to stay in touch with family and friends abroad, to make inexpensive calls to landlines and mobile phones, and for free calling to other Skype users anywhere in the world. In addition, of Skype users surveyed, nearly 25% use Skype to make 100% of their international calls. 30% of users state their friends are "spread around the globe."

"This free international calling offer is yet another way Skype is making it easy and affordable for people in the U.S. and Canada to try Skype and discover the benefits of being able to easily stay in touch with friends and family all over the world," said Don Albert, general manager, Skype North America. "We think free calling to these three major countries is a great reason for people to try Skype and is a special thank you for our existing U.S. and Canadian customers."

In Canada, according to the 2001 census, that figure is more than 650,000. With likely personal ties to their birthplaces, Skype considers these individuals to be valuable potential Skype users.

"I moved from the UK to Texas in 1992, and now use Skype to keep in touch with my family back home," said Jeremy Chapell, a Dallas resident and avid Skype user. "My mother loves Skype--she can call us from England and we talk for hours. We talk about four times more often than we used to, thanks to Skype."

SanDisk and Skype Announce Pocket-Sized Internet Video Calling on Smart Drives

Preloaded SanDisk U3 Cruzer Smart Drives Let Consumers Make Skype Voice and Video Calls Around the World

MILPITAS, Calif. and LUXEMBOURG, July 10, 2006 – SanDisk® Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK), the world’s largest supplier of flash memory card storage products, and Skype™, the global Internet communications company, have announced that Skype users can now make free calls and chat on almost any PC without having to download software. The Skype software will now come pre-loaded on SanDisk’s newest Cruzer® Micro and Cruzer Titanium lines of Skype-certified U3™ enabled smart drives. This will allow consumers to make free PC-to-PC audio and video calls to Skype users in most major markets.

SanDisk’s Cruzer Micro and Cruzer Titanium with U3 gives users a portable way to carry files and programs without leaving any personal information behind on a computer. This means Skype users can take their Skype account complete with their contacts, settings and preferences on a device that is smaller than a pack of chewing gum and make calls, with video as an option, from any PC such as those in Internet cafes and hotels. This compact Skype is particularly useful for business travelers, leisure travelers, students and anyone who uses multiple computers.

“Skype likes to partner with the brightest and best in their industries,” said Saul Klein, VP Marketing, Skype. “SanDisk is an excellent addition to the growing Skype ecosystem of partners and will allow us to reach an entirely new set of Skype users.”

The U3 platform, which allows a variety of applications to be loaded onto a flash drive, is a standard feature on all capacities of SanDisk’s latest versions of its Cruzer Micro and Cruzer Titanium USB smart drives.

“SanDisk sees the U3 platform as the next major step in mobile computing,” said Carlos Gonzalez, Senior Director of USB at SanDisk. “The Cruzer Micro and Cruzer Titanium with U3 will enable people to carry around, on a small, convenient USB flash drive, their complete personal desktop with all their favorite U3 smart applications, settings and contacts and allow them to work on any PC, wherever they go. Skype is such a convenient communication tool for professionals and the whole mobile generation that it has become an essential part of their work and digital lives. So we are proud to announce that we have established a close cooperation with Skype, enabling us to include the software exclusively on our Cruzers.”

The new drives will display the Skype logo on the packaging and will feature one free month of Skype voicemail for the mobile user to get messages from their Skype calls even when on the go. The SanDisk Cruzer Micro with Skype preloaded is available at retail outlets in U.S. and Europe, including Skype’s online store, for suggested retail prices ranging from $39.99 to $199.99. Capacities are 512 megabytes (MB), 1 gigabyte (GB), 2GB and 4GB*. SanDisk Cruzer Titanium with Skype comes in 1GB and 2GB, at suggested prices of $74.99 and $119.99 respectively, and is now shipping in most major markets.

Skype is one of four productivity software tools bundled on SanDisk’s newest Cruzer Micro and Titanium flash drives. The U3 technology provides a resident environment for applications that operate directly from the flash drive. Other U3-compatible programs on the SanDisk drives offer anti-virus, file synchronization and password management functions. U3 applications work with any PC using Microsoft Windows XP or 2000 operating systems.**
