São Paulo, January 31, 2006 – Global Internet communication company Skype and telecommunications operator Transit Telecom announced a deal that will launch SkypeIn to the Brazilian market.
SkypeIn beta is a new Skype offering in Brazil that allows users to have their own private number, provided by Transit Telecom, to receive inbound calls from traditional landline or mobile phones to Skype.

Today, it is one of the top five countries in the world communicating through Skype,” celebrates Prentice.
“We both share the same vision of business, as Transit and Skype are companies focused on innovation”, says Transit Telecom Technology VP Alexandre Alves. “With this deal, SkypeIn customers can choose an area code from major cities across Brazil and are assigned a regular access number from Transit to receive calls. Anyone may call the SkypeIn number wherever the user travels”, he concluded. At launch, SkypeIn is available in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Belo Horizonte, Campinas, Santos, Joinville, Caxias do Sul and São José dos Campos.
Skype’s software offers free, unlimited Skype-to-Skype communication on Linux, Mac OS X, Pocket PC and Windows platforms, as well as SkypeIn and SkypeOut products. All Skype premium products are offered on a pre-paid basis to eliminate billing surprises and are available online at www.skype.com.
Three month SkypeIn subscriptions are available for approximately R$ 30,00 (€10) for 3 months and 12 month subscriptions for approximately R$ 90,00 (€30). Skype Voicemail subscriptions are available separately for approximately R$ 15,00 (€5) for 3 months or R$ 45,00 (€15) for 12 months, and a free subscription is included with all SkypeIn orders.
The free voicemail that comes with SkypeIn allows customers to receive a voicemail message of up to 10 minutes from any user or traditional phone. Skype Voicemail customers may record their own personalized voicemail greeting, playback their messages (even while offline), and send incoming calls to voicemail if they’re away, offline or simply busy on another call.
